Mirror Man

Do we have a true face? A performance-lecture about what happens when you look at your face for an hour. Inheritance, race, scars, ageing, memory. The familiar is unfamiliar.

Mirror Man begins with an experiment (inspired by Ruth Ozeki). Sit in front of a mirror for an hour and see what comes back.

A scar beside the eye opens into childhood; thinning hair into identity; a family nose into inheritance; eyelash mites into the unsettling fact that even our own faces are partly unknown.

Moving between story, science, memory and audience participation, Ben Yeoh asks what our faces carry, what we choose to change, and what we pass on. The audience is invited to imagine, draw and finally look again at their own faces. A funny, intimate meditation on race, ageing, family and the stranger in the mirror.
